Seekers exoplanets in La Silla

In the search for distant worlds, few telescopes have been as successful as the 3.6-m telescope of ESO and the Swiss Leonhard Euler telescope of 1.2 meters, both shown in this image.
The 3.6-m telescope is home to HARPS (High Accuracy Radial velocity Planet Searcher), a spectrograph with unmatched precision, multi-record holder in the field of the search for exoplanets, including the least massive exoplanet discovery, as well as more boy has been measured. Along with HARPS, Leonhard Euler telescope has allowed astronomers to discover that six exoplanets from a sample of 27 were orbiting in the opposite direction to the rotation of its host star, which is a serious and unexpected challenge to current formation theories planet.
At 2,400 meters above sea level, south of the Atacama desert in Chile, La Silla was the first ESO observation site. In addition to the 3.6-m telescope, also home to the New Technology Telescope (NTT) and the 2.2-meter telescope MPG / ESO, as well as various national and smaller telescopes.
